Healing with Horses

Our Trauma Informed Healing with Horses program is limited to 6 participants and is designed to address post traumatic stress experienced by Military Veterans and First Responders.

Healing with Horses is facilitated by an Equine Professional and a Licensed Mental Health Counselor. Our program is based on the principles of Natural Lifemanship®, a bottom -up/body based, trauma-informed approach to Equine Assisted Services. We believe that healthy, connected relationships are the key to healing from trauma.

Developing a connected relationship with a horse, who is non-judgmental and provides instant feedback, is often the first step in finding safety in connecting with yourself and others.

Throughout our 8-week course, you'll practice nervous system regulation techniques, as well as have the opportunity to build a relationship with a horse by exploring concepts such as attunement, trust, respect, consent, safety and co-regulation.

Much of the exchange that takes place between horses and humans is non-verbal, which is particularly powerful for those who have experienced trauma that is difficult to express in words.
The program is entirely unmounted and requires no prior horse experience.
